prompting for password on terminal

When libcurl is unable to authenticate, it prompts for password on the
terminal. Is there a way to disable this ? Cant I have a callback
registered which can be called for password ? Unluckily libcurl also
prompts for passwords when I want to supply blank password.
Is this issue fixed curl 7.11 onwards ?
