I run an autobuild that sets the buffers to 80 bytes, which naturally saves
more memory at the expense of efficiency. At that small buffer size a
couple of functions no longer work properly (HTTP proxytunnel support
and chunked uploads being the main ones), but if you're desperate for lower
RAM consumption above all else, it's something to look at.
