Configure script fails when run for 32-bit bit lib on Solaris9:

checking if X/Open network library is required... no

checking for gethostbyname... no

checking for gethostbyname in -lnsl... yes

checking for strcasecmp... yes

checking for windows.h... (cached) no

checking for winsock.h... (cached) no

checking for winsock2.h... (cached) no

checking for connect in libraries... cannot find connect

configure: error: cannot find connect function in libraries.

Configure completes without errors when run for 64-bit libcurl on the
same box. 64-bit libcurl has been built successfully.

Configure completes successfully for 32- and 64-bit libcurl and the
libraries are created on another Solaris9 box with newer compiler.

Failure box:

$> CC -V

'CC: Sun C++ 5.5 2003/03/12

$> uname -a

SunOS xxxxxxx 5.9 Generic_112233-07 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-1000

Successful box:

$> CC -V

CC: Sun C++ 5.8 2005/10/13

$> uname -a

SunOS xxxxxxx 5.9 Generic_122300-32 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-1000
