Summary: RTMP protocol support

Initial Comment:
Although it seems to be almost done[1], I'd just like to post this feature request to keep track of the progress.

I'd love to see RTMP[2] support for the commandline client.

I havn't tried the RTMP patch for libcurl. However, I've done some new
looking into this and Gnash seems to have RTMP support. They even have some
nice documentation on their reverse engeneering[5]. When looking at the
code documentation[6] they seem to have the RTMP support inline and not in
libcurl.

This means that there will probably never be a libcurl RTMP patch coming
from the Gnash team. Also note that the message[1] is from 2006 and no
patch has arrived.

Although I have not confirmed this with the Gnash team[7], I think that
RTMP support will have to be copied from the Gnash team to get into
libcurl, no patch will ever come.

I don't know anyone who's tried this patch. I've been assuming they would
post it to us when they think it is good enough to use.

Just wondering if anyone is looking at this. I've tried out the patch in
[3], which compiles and appears to get some way to interpreting an RTMP URL
but eventually fails.

Has anyone on the cURL team tried it and can comment on how near to
working it is?

Sorry, my bad/bug. I've seen a patch[3] which has been reported to
crash[4]. So it will need more work.
Maybe the gnash team knows more about this.

I've never seen the patch mentioned in [1] so I cannot comment on how near
support for RTMP may or may not be. (And yes, I would be one of the main
guys who would need to see the patch for it to go into the main sources.)
