Did you consider using the winbuild build system or generating project files with cmake instead of the project files? If so, in what ways were they not sufficient?

I'm asking, because I want to remove the VS studio project files: #5920

I'm not familiar with cmake.
I think VS Project files is useful, especially for me as a beginner.
