So does it also happen if you download a file from a HTTP server on localhost
then?

Does it happen if you run the same curl command line on a totally different
network?

I've never seen this problem myself and I've not seen anyone else report it.
If 10% of the transfers got that crippled, surely we'd be drowning in the
screems of hurting users already?
