Summary: hang following HTTPS GET with curl on linux (7.13.1)

Initial Comment:
HTTPS GET seems to be failing for all pages in
curl-7.13.1 (same operation works fine in curl-7.12.3).
 HTTP is working fine in curl-7.13.1.
