It has been confrirmed

me by the Oz developers that this is a timing signal used by the
emulator. In fact it is the mechanism for pre-emptive multitasking. It
should be there, and is not a problem.

OTOH, I have also had feedback that the bindings program _does_ work on
their machines (even if it doesn't on mine, where it was written!!!) so
I must now suspect some kind of weird firewall setting, although,
frankly, it beats me... I will be trying on another computer soon,
we'll see how it goes...
