The link I sent was for Activestate Perl 5.8.x, and not for 5.6.1;
I'd suggest you either update to a recent 5.8.x build, or dig at the link I posted for a 5.6.1 build (not sure though if there's one). I tested it with with 5.8.6, and that works without issue.
