Hi,

The app I'm working on uses only fairly simple http calls to libcurl.
I'm not using ldap and IPv6.

Incidentally, I found a little more information on the
2000-compatibility issue which, um, which doesn't particularly help
things :-)

I've no doubt that VS2008 does support Windows 2000 per se. I worked on
a commercial product that was released last year (built with VS2008)
which supports Windows 2000 and runs fine on it. We're not currently
aware of any live issues with that OS.
I suspect that any problems there may be in this grey area will manifest
themselves as binaries not running at all under Windows 2000 - e.g.
"Entry Point Not Found" type errors - when trying to use IPv6 or other
functionality not supported by it.
