Yup, that does it. That's probably a worthwhile FAQ option though, because I'm sure a lot of people try file://D:/blah.txt and have to scratch their heads for a while.

Actually, my cygwin curl was very old and might be wrong. Perhaps someone on
Windows could just debug this case as I just now read the lib/file.c code, and
to me it looks correct!
