Forgive me if I am missing something here but was the removal of NPN support intentional? I am using Centos 7 with the up-to-date official OpenSSL (open-1.0.1e-43.el7_0.6.x86_64), which unfortunately does not have ALPN support.

nghttp2 supports NPN or ALPN, therefore in my environment I have nghttp2 built supporting only NPN. In the past I have successfully built curl with HTTP/2 support using my NPN-only nghttp2.

Since the above changes, I can no longer build curl, receiving the error message "error http2 builds require OpenSSL with ALPN support!".
