Over a fast connection (plain FTP upload) the patched version is consistently
slower. Done with a 194MB mp4 file (in stead of the 1 MB test file):

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]
% Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current
Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed
100 194M 0 0 100 194M 0 7037k 0:00:28 0:00:28 --:--:-- 6527k
start:0,359000 total:28,345000

running patched...
% Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current
Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed
100 194M 0 0 100 194M 0 6517k 0:00:30 0:00:30 --:--:-- 6554k
start:0,374000 total:30,607000

Every result was 28 seconds versus 30 seconds. FWIW: this is with a 1 Gbit/s
network cable connection to my Fritzbox, behind a 50 Mbit/s up and down fiber
connection. 194MB is 20 seconds is faster than the spacs of my connection.
