Thanks for the response, but it did not work.

All I get in the file is:
<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>401 Unauthorized</TITLE></HEAD><BODY><H1>401
Unauthorized</H1></BODY></HTML>

So curl must be doing something different 'cause the same user/password
works with the wget command
