i'am not sure, because i haven't looked yet into the code but we had
the same problem.

The error was that we have call a malloc in the signal-funktion, the
signal was 'ABORT'.

The 'new glibc' handle some signals in 'non threaded programs' in the
same way as for threaded programs, we have this assumed because the
error was only with the FC4 && RHEL4.
