You were on the right track, adding to the certificate bundle. In this case,
you need to add the appropriate Thawte CA key to the bundle (you can find
out the CAFile being used by curl if you give the -v option). You'll have
to find the appropriate CA key from the Thawte web site or somewhere else
(like extracting it from the bundle used by Firefox).
