I am currently using the file:/ protocol to grab a bunch of files from
an NFS mount - currently, the issue is that while libcurl and curl both
perform the desired action, and measures the size - it does not record
any other metrics, like speed_download (bytes/sec) and other similar
metrics for example:

[jnoller_at_jnoller dev]$ curl
file:/home/jnoller/development/pynfs-citi-2004-02-20.tar.gz > noogins

Does the file:/ protocol not have the capability to record these
metrics?
