This is certainly a good set of fixes!

I renamed your new ares function to ares_cancel() (since that is basicly what
it does: cancels a name resolve) and added it to CVS as well as the libcurl
patch to use it.

(This will make the next libcurl release depend on the next c-ares release
when asynch name resolves are used.)
