Check the curl_easy_setopt documentation, you probably
want to use on or more of these options:

CURLOPT_TIMEOUT
CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT
CURLOPT_LOW_SPEED_LIMIT
CURLOPT_LOW_SPEED_TIME
