An additional test could be done on the server connect string to avoid
and/or limit extra data exchanges. OS400 server always sends:

220 QTCP at host.doma.in

I know this string is often configurable (although not in the OS400
case), and is supposed to identify the server rather than the OS, but
again, who will pretend they run the wrong server?
