#curlftpfs --version
curlftpfs 0.9.1 libcurl/7.17.0 fuse/2.5 - works fine

curlftpfs 0.9.1 libcurl/7.17.1+ fuse/2.5 - has that login bugs.

BTW, there is no separate package named "libcurl" on Gentoo. So when curlftpfs has curl as dependency.
