This is *very* old stuff. I'd really recommend you to try a modern version
instead. I'm not even 100% sure this old version works with OpenSSL 0.9.7.

The libssl is one of the libraries that are provided by OpenSSL. Since you
installed OpenSSL you should have the ssl lib present already.
