sorry for an improper "reply", i subscribed to the list after the
replied-to email went through, and see no way to get its message id
from archives.

login is kinda redundant with user(name)?, my suggestion would be
--remote-user, --remote-pass(|word)

as i wrote in https://sourceforge.net/p/curl/bugs/1375/, i prefer
a new option that does not try to second-guess my intentions.

only -[WZ57890] remain unused, so i guess it's long options only.
