*Neato* The fix is already committed to CVS and is included in the now
available 7.7.1-beta1 archive.

You would normally not use the command line tool with PHP. There are three
little curl-PHP examples at http://curl.haxx.se/lxr/source/php/examples/

You can download and install the 7.7.1-beta archive this moment and then
it'll work like this from PHP as well...
